To mark the international World Water Day on the 22nd of March, Ethnographic Exploratory will host an exciting and a(qua)dorable event with the theme WATER. The event will search to present an interdisciplinary approach of contemporary and future aspects of water and water challenges, in the view of the progressive environmental changes. So please join us in the Ethnographic Exploratorium to claim your place in the pool of waterknowledge – and get inspired by the interesting aspects on working with water on this we(t)dnesday afternoon!
Ethnographic Exploratorium have the honour to present two very interesting and competent speakers, who will present the ways in which they are working with water in different parts of the world. With these presentations we will expand our knowledge about climate change, water as a resource and the human relation to these phenomena:

Astrid Oberborbeck Andersen holds a PhD from University of Copenhagen, and has participated in “Waterworlds” – a well known anthropological project about fluid environments led by anthropologist Kirsten Hastrup. Astrid will supply us with knowledge regarding her fieldwork in Arequipa, southern Peru, one of the driest places on earth, a place where the statement “water is life” echoes.

Li Liu is a landscape architect and a post doc researcher at the department of Geoscience and Natural Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen. Her current research is focused on how sustainable city and especially sustainable urban water management can be achieved by urban green infrastructure. She has experience with urban water management from both Africa, China and Denmark. Li Liu will present us with some concrete tools to cope with water and the lack of it, and introduce us to the resource, that water constitutes.

During the event we have the pleasure of presenting a smaller exhibition with photography and text by the visual anthropologist PhD Christian Vium, who studied draught and water in Mauretania – also in connection with the Water Worlds project. The exhibition will run all through the afternoon.

The event will be open from 16.30 to 19.30. The two talks will include a following round of questions, answers and discussion, and will begin at 17.05. There will be tea/coffee/snacks and hopefully a lot of curiosity – lets ride the wave and test the waters, we hope to see you in the Ethnographic Exploratory!

The event will be in English and is open for everybody.
